USS Undine

Undine, originally the commercial steamer Ben Gaylord, was purchased by the U.S. Navy and converted into a tinclad gunboat.  She was captured by Confederate forces on October 30, 1864, on the Tennessee River.  In early November, during events associated with military actions near Johnsonville, she was burned by the Confederates to prevent recapture by the Federals.
