USS Tyler

Tyler, originally a commercial steamer, was purchased by the Federal government in 1861 and converted into a woodclad gunboat.  Her extensive career included participation in the battles at Forts Henry and Donelson as well as other operations on Tennessee rivers.  She survived the war and was sold in 1865.
