USS St. Louis
St. Louis was one of seven "city" class ironclads. Her extensive Tennessee experience during 1862 included participation in the capture of Forts Henry and Donelson, the engagement near Fort Pillow, and the naval battle at Memphis.
St. Louis was renamed Baron de Kalb in September 1862 during her transfer to Navy control. She was destroyed by a mine (then called a "torpedo") in July 1863 while operating on the Yazoo River.
