USS Silver Cloud

Silver Cloud was originally built in 1862 as a commercial steamer at Brownsville, Pennsylvania. She was converted by the Navy into Federal tinclad gunboat number 28, receiving her commission in May 1863.
She served patrol and escort duties on the Tennessee River, and was present during the Confederate capture and subsequent Federal recapture of Fort Pillow in 1864. She survived the war and was decommissioned in June 1865.
