USS Mound City [Naval Historical Center, NH 72806]

Mound City was a "city" class ironclad built at Mound City, Illinois, and commissioned in January 1862.  During the operations against Fort Pillow, she was rammed two times by Confederate gunboats, causing her to be withdrawn for extensive repairs.

Her later career (outside of Tennessee) involved operations on the Yazoo River, Vicksburg, Grand Gulf, and the Red River.  She survived the war and was sold in November 1865.
