CSS General Bragg

The Mexico was built in 1851 at New York for the Southern Steamship Company.  The Confederate government converted her to the lightly-armed ram General Bragg in 1862.  She participated in the 1862 battles at Fort Pillow on May 10 and Memphis on June 6.

At Memphis she was set on fire and settled on a sandbar.  Captured by the Federal forces, she later served in the Union Navy and survived the war, being sold to D. White in September 1865.
