Heritage Area Collaborative Partnership Projects

The Board of Advisors of the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area invites Tennessee's non-profit organizations, state agencies, local governments, communities, and educational institutions to develop Collaborative Partnership projects for this statewide network.  Projects must contribute to the understanding of the Civil War and Reconstruction in Tennessee.  Collaborative partners must demonstrate their commitment to producing projects that are feasible, cost-effective, and lasting.

Financial support for the TCWNHA comes from a combination of public and private sources. The funding, in accordance with Public Law 104-333 (1996), will include up to $10 million of federal matching funds, not to exceed $1 million each year, for a period of 13 years ending September 30, 2012. All federal funds must be matched on a 50/50 ratio with non-federal funds.

The first step that all potential collaborative partners must take is to complete our online self-assessment checklist.  After reviewing these checklists, we will contact potential collaborative partners to learn more about their projects.  We will notify the most promising partners and request that they consult our guidelines for partnership project funding and submit a partnership project funding application form.  Please contact the Heritage Area with any questions.

Heritage Area Professional Services Partnership Projects

Through its Professional Services Partnership program, the TCWNHA partners with organizations and individuals throughout the state. We provide the professional services, and Middle Tennessee State University provides the match for the expenditure of our time and resources. The staff of the TCWNHA is available to assist you with historic site studies, heritage tourism brochures, program and exhibition development, and National Register nominations of Civil War and Reconstruction-era properties, among other projects.

If you are interested in partnering with us through our Professional Services program, please see staff to contact the Heritage Area staff member whose job responsibility best suits your planned project.
