Along with providing graduate research assistantships, Center staff continue to teach a limited number of classes within MTSU's graduate program in public history. The Center's commitment to students often extends to serving on thesis and dissertation committee and assisting in career placement. Dr. Carroll Van West, with the Center for Historic Preservation since 1985 and Director of the Center since 2002, has directed to completion approximately 60 M.A. theses of MTSU graduate students in history, historic preservation, and public history.
