Nancy W. Smotherman, before coming to the Center in 1989, was a service representative at South Central Bell (now BellSouth) for fourteen years and then served as administrative assistant to the Senior Vice-President Trust Officer at Mid-South Bank and Trust for five years. She received her certification as a professional secretary in 1993 and became Executive Aide to the Center for Historic Preservation director Dr. Carroll Van West in 2003. She is responsible for the daily operations, student personnel, and fiscal reports of the Center. A
member of the Secretarial Clerical Staff, she has
received the MTSU employee quarterly award for Exemplary
Performance and serves on the Administrative
Professional Organizational Chair Committee for CPS/CAP
Certification. She has also been awarded Outstanding
Young Woman of the Year, recognized as “Someone who
makes a real difference in the lives of MTSU Students,"
and served as President of the service organization Beta
Sigma Phi. Smotherman is currently President of the
MTSU Dames Club, an education and service
organization.
