Our Goals
The goals of the Center for Historic Preservation are:

To stimulate and support economic development in
Tennessee through applied research programs and
activities which focus on identification,
protection, promotion, and interpretation of
heritage resources.

To encourage in all citizens and residents of the
state a sense of pride, place, and belonging.

To enhance and promote the image of Tennessee higher
education through an intense program of professional
accomplishment and leadership at the local, state,
regional, national, and international levels.

To provide training, materials, and assistance for
teachers and school systems in grades K-12, in
higher education, and for the out-of-school adult
public on heritage-related topics.
-
To support the university's academic programs which
relate to historic preservation including history,
historic preservation/public history, education,
geography, and human sciences.
